Comforting to know I’m not alone in this! Taking a dish off the menu is a great idea, especially for us over-achievers. I won’t even get started on the amount of food I made for my husband’s 30th. Our kitchen was tiny, and some of the dishes were piled on the floor. Oh my god. I wasn’t kidding when I said these anecdotes were just the tip of the iceberg! It’s been trial by fire on this end. The first few times I threw a dinner party for my family, It was a disaster that started very late after they had been waiting, starving, for many hours..
But now I plan things much differently. And I always take off one dish from the menu since it seems I always plan too much initially.
I still over extend myself sometimes, so I’ll do my best to learn your lesson:))
