Chives and purslane are popping up in the tiniest cracks between the bricks in our backyard; today I spotted a small patch of little purple pansies. One morning, I drew open the curtains, and the trees infront of our house- bare and spindly for the past few months- were filled with white blossoms. And just like that, spring is here.
A few things that have been inspiring me lately:
-this photo essay on dandelions
-this post on foraging for nettles
-“That’s Not Trash, That’s Dinner”
-Loving Gilt Taste, especially the “Eat Shoots & Leaves” column: cooking with herb stems, celery hearts and leaves, carrot tops and the hearts of cabbage and cauliflower. (um, and everything Francis Lam writes).
-100 greatest cooking tips of all time (thanks Shelley!)
-this ted talk
-these chocolate chip cookies (black sesame seeds! soy sauce!)
Have a wonderful weekend, friends!
